About Me

As a lifelong resident of the central plains, one of the most vivid childhood memories I can recall is a night when I scampered to my bedroom during a heavy thunderstorm to get some crayons. My passion for the weather developed largely in tandem with my passion for art, though it took decades to cultivate each individually and even longer for the two passions to converge.

I spent the first years of adulthood pursuing other endeavors, and what I failed to realize at the time is that my attention was always split between the weather and the task at hand. My eyes could not be torn away from the mysterious, complex, and terrifying dance occurring daily in the spring and early summer skies. Meanwhile, my creative spark lay mostly dormant, aside from the occasional funny drawing or water color painting.

Ten years later I earned a degree in Meteorology and landed a job as a weather anchor for a local cable television station. While I expected to discover fulfillment, I could sense something missing. I found myself too detached from my passion. I didn't want to be stuck inside simply telling others about the weather - I wanted to experience it.

It was the desire to not only share the experiences, but communicate the depth I felt them with that transformed my creative spark into a fire. Oil paint turns out to be the best medium I've found to create in a manner that translates what I mean precisely how I mean it. I'm fortunate to never find myself lacking inspiration, as long as I keep looking up.

It's funny how sometimes the things you've looked hardest for were right in front of you the whole time.

Welcome to this little slice of my world. I hope you find what you're looking for.
