Spring storms in the Great Plains, at times, take on a mischievous temperament.

I've always been fascinated by the play of light and scale, particularly over open terrain, and how such drastic visual changes can occur over the depth of the landscape.

Sometimes, it is unclear just what exactly is occurring in the sky. Are the clouds parting briefly, allowing the sun to shine through? Or are the clouds converging, foreshadowing the arrival of the distant storm?

In either case, the weather will do what it wants. To those who know how to look, a glimpse of a very real personality is revealed by the atmosphere.
